I miss Farmer and the Cook. We don't really have amazing organic cafes in Chicago. We certainly don't have anything like Farmer and the Cook. Delicious, healthy food that fills you up in a setting like no other (although I may be slightly biased having grown up here).

This might be my favorite eating establishment in the entire cosmos. What's that? What about Providence, Urasawa, Grammercy Tavern, etc etc etc? Let me explain. All those places are great, stellar, mind-blowing. They're like going home with the hot girl in a bar. (not like I'd know haha...*sigh*) Lots of fun all around and a night you'll always remember. But sometimes, you just want that person that makes you feel like you're home, makes you feel good to be alive.Farmer and the Cook is that in a restaurant/cafe. The food is brimming with love. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually go through some mantras and consecrations before cooking for the day. When I leave here I feel energized, alert, happy, just positive in every way. On a beautiful Ojai sunny day you can eat outside with your awesome spelt-crust pizza, a salad, a kombucha (or chai, which rocks) and a strawberry bar for dessert while watching the kooky locals and there are few things more perfect than that my friends.
This place is 100% organic, and light years beyond M Cafe de Chaya or Whole Foods or anything I've had in L.A. This place totally reminds me of Santa Cruz.
